Udev and Alpha Branches Merged To Trunk
Archaic - 2006/04/14

Last week the alphabetical branch was merged into trunk. With this change, the LFS build order has been revised and documented like never before. Following that came the udev branch merge yesterday which now allows trunk to use the latest kernel and udev version while removing hotplug. There are very few bugs left to squash so trunk will soon be able to branch off for release. Anyone who would like to help test this new trunk can read the book online, or download to read locally. If you prefer, you can check out the book's XML source from our Subversion repository and render it yourself:

New Udev Branch

A new branch was created to test the removal of hotplug. This branch requires a newer kernel and a newer udev than what is currently in the development branch. Anyone who would like to help test this branch can read the book online, or download to read locally. If you prefer, you can check out the book's XML source from our Subversion repository and render it yourself:

LFS 6.1.1 Released

The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the release of LFS 6.1.1. This release includes fixes for all known errata since LFS-6.1 was released 4 months ago.

LFS 6.1.1-pre2 Released

The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the second pre-release of LFS 6.1.1. In addition to the fixes already made in LFS-6.1.1-pre1, this release addresses a bug in Glibc that prevents some programs (including OpenOffice.org) from running.

This being a test release, we would appreciate you taking the time to try it out and report any bugs you find in it to the LFS development team at lfs-dev@linuxfromscratch.org.

The final release is planned for Wednesday 30th November.

LFS 6.1.1-pre1 Released

LFS 6.1 Released

The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the release of LFS 6.1. This release includes a large number of package upgrades (including Linux-2.6.11.12, GCC-3.4.3, Glibc-2.3.4) and security fixes (including the recently disclosed zlib vulnerability). It also includes a large amount of editorial work on the explantory material throughout the book, improving both the clarity and accuracy of the text.
